Hello Cumberland!
Here is my report on Main Street happenings. I (Jody Boyer) and my husband (Russ Nordman)own 113 Main Street. We bought the building in the summer 2007. We are both Art Professors at the University Nebraska at Omaha and live in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We plan on using the building as a gallery for students and emerging artists to have exhibitions, a studio for our own art making and a second home. I am not sure you call that a "business" or a labor of love, either way we love our building, and are looking forward to being part of the community. We also have a four year old daughter, which means that the project will take some time. I will be coming to the next Cumberland 125 meeting on May 17 -- it is the first one that is not on monday night - ( i teach monday nights at UNO). We would like to have a "History of Cumberland" exhibition during the Cumberland 125 celebration next summer.
111 Main, the Legion Building, was bought by Eugene Marsh, an artist from San Francisco. He is in Cumberland until the end of May working on his building. He is very friendly, outgoing and I think has met many more community members that Russ or I.
115 Main we know less about - but have heard that a baker from Omaha purchased the building, and that they had to cut out the door to get the oven in the building. Russ and I are both excited about the prospect of warm cinnamon rolls but neither of us has had the chance to meet the owner of 115 Main Street.
Any questions or comments please let us know!

Thanks for your info on the buildings on Main Street. We welcome you to the community. Also wanted to let you know the Cumberland 125 meeting will be held on Monday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m., not on May 17.
